Councilmember Hall joined Mayor Wolcott and Councilmembers Tande and Winters for the tree lighting ceremony at the 14th Annual Surprise Party on Dec. 4.
On Tuesday, October 20, the Surprise City Council recognized Eric Bennett, a long-time Surprise resident and teacher at Shadow Ridge High School, who won a gold medal in the Men’s Open Recurve Division at the World Archery Para Championships in Donaueschingen, Germany this past August. The victory guarantees Eric’s participation in the 2016 Para Olympics in Rio next summer. He also captured the silver medal at the Para Pan Games in Toronto.
On Thursday, September 10, I was inducted into the Rotary Club of Surprise. I was honored to be invited to become a member of this selfless service organization, and I look forward to sharing my passion of helping with others with my Rotarian peers.
Councilman Hall participated in a Veterans Panel at Willow Canyon High School on September 17 in honor of Constitution Day. The panel, which also included Councilman Biundo, shared with the students their experience in the service and how it related to the constitution.
Councilman Hall attended a ceremony on July 9 in honor of our new Police Chief, Terry Young, and our new Assistant City Manager, Michael Frazier. The two leaders will start their new roles on Monday, July 13, 2015.
Councilman Hall, a Vietnam War veteran, spoke at a Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony on May 23 at Surprise Community Park.
Mayor Wolcott and members of City Council joined IRIS USA, Inc. and its parent company IRIS Ohyama Inc. in breaking ground for the Company’s new Western United States Regional Headquarters facility in Surprise on May, 21, 2015.
The new facility will house some 420,000-square-feet of manufacturing, distribution and office space and initially employ approximately 100 people, the bulk of whom will be recruited from the local area. The facility will be located within the city’s Southwest Railplex Industrial District and is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2016.
